Most of our clients report that tattoo removal with the Enlighten, our compounded numbing cream and our Zimmer (blows ice cold air) is easily tolerable but we believe in complete pain control. We are a group of medical professionals so we are able to offer lidocaine injections to help relieve discomfort when other measures are not enough. We often find that the first treatment is often the one that benefits the most from injections. Once a lot of the ink is removed the subsequent treatments become even more easy.
Enlighten by Cutera works differently that traditional thermal historically used in the past. Enlighten features extremely short and high-powered picosecond) laser pulses that pass through the top layers of the skin and acoustically break down the ink particles in the tattoo. A picosecond in one-trillionth of a second, and is 1,000 times shorter than the pulses used in the existing lasers for tattoo removal. Enlighten pulses have been shown to remove tattoo more completely and in fewer treatments than traditional laser used in the past.
The total numbers of treatments vary depending on several factors like depth, quality of the ink, colors and the size of the tattoo. Almost all tattoos require multiple treatment sessions for clearance but our doctors will give you a better idea of the total number of treatments needed during your consultation and once your treatment begins.
Even though it will take several treatments to achieve the optimal tattoo clearance, you will see improvement immediately after your first session. The tattoo will fade in consecutive weeks but the maximum fading will occur during the fourth and sixth weeks after treatment.
